The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is holding its annual Women’s Business Conference this fall. The meeting is open to members and non-members and will feature exciting keynote speakers, networking activities, breakout sessions, and exhibitors from across the United States. The conference will open at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, October 13 with Total Body Bootcamp followed by the NAWBO annual membership meeting (open to all attendees). It will close with an awards gala on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Women in Business Speakers
The NAWBO conference will feature an array of speakers, including journalist and TV talk show host Lisa Ling, who will give the keynote address. A former field correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show and reporter for ABC News, Ms. Ling began her career covering the war in Afghanistan at the age of 21. Since then, she has reported on women’s issues across the globe, including the Indian practice of bride burning and rape as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her presentation, “The Importance of a Global Perspective” will recount some of her experiences as a journalist and highlight the importance of breaking out of one’s comfort zone.
Also presenting will be author and business consultant Tiffany Dafu, whose memoir “Drop the Ball” was hailed by feminist icon Gloria Steinem as “important, path-breaking, intimate and brave.” Ms. Dufu is co-founder and CEO of The Cru, a peer coaching service for women and girls. She will speak about entrepreneurship, self-acceptance and the power of letting go.
Other speakers will include Karen Harrison, Senior Vice President, Credit Products and Partners Executive, Small Business Banking at Bank of America; Kasey Kempton, SVP Digital Business Officer at Chubb; branding and marketing guru Nikki Bradley, and many more. Breakout sessions will cover a wide variety of topics, including a website building “how-to” by GoDaddy and branding and marketing sessions with Nikki Bradley and Quierra Fenderson.
